There’s something about autumn that makes staying home feel extra special. The evenings get darker, the air turns crisp, and suddenly all you want to do is put on your favourite cosy jumper, make something delicious, light a candle and settle in for the evening.
For us, autumn is all about slowing down and enjoying the little things — warm food, soft blankets, comforting scents, a good book and a little time to yourself. So, if you’re looking for the perfect way to make an ordinary autumn evening feel a little more special, here’s our favourite cosy evening ritual.
1. Set the mood with candlelight 🕯️The easiest way to make your home feel instantly cosier is with candlelight. Turn off the bright overhead lights, switch on a few lamps and light a candle somewhere you’ll be spending your evening. The gentle glow creates that warm, relaxed atmosphere that autumn evenings are made for. And, of course, the scent matters just as much as the glow.
If you’re looking for that classic autumn feeling, Autumn Harvest is the perfect choice. With its comforting apple and cinnamon-inspired character, it’s made for evenings filled with baking, warm drinks and cosy blankets. Perfect for: baking nights, Sunday evenings and autumn dinners.
When you want your home to smell like autumn comfort, reach for Warm & Cosy. Its pumpkin-spice-inspired scent is perfect for those evenings when you want to get comfortable, put your feet up and forget about the outside world for a while. Perfect for: movie nights, hot chocolate and relaxing after a long day.
And then there’s Sweater Weather — the candle we reach for when the temperature drops and it’s officially time for chunky jumpers and cosy evenings indoors. It’s perfect for creating that warm, inviting atmosphere while you read, relax or catch up with your favourite show.Perfect for: reading, rainy evenings and slow weekends at home.
2. Make something comforting to eat 🍎Nothing makes an autumn evening feel more special than something warm baking in the oven. One of our favourites is a simple apple and cinnamon crumble. It’s easy to make, fills the kitchen with the most wonderful autumn aromas and tastes even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or warm custard.
Easy Apple & Cinnamon Crumble
You’ll need:
• 4–5 apples, peeled and sliced
• 2 tbsp brown sugar
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 150g plain flour
• 100g cold butter
• 75g oats
• 75g brown sugar
Method:
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
2. Place the sliced apples in a baking dish and sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
3. Rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
4. Stir in the oats and remaining brown sugar.
5. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.
6. Bake for around 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbling
7. Serve warm with custard, cream or ice cream
Cosy tip: Light your Autumn Harvest candle while the crumble is baking and let the apple-and-cinnamon atmosphere fill the kitchen.
3. Make yourself something warm to drink ☕
Once dinner is finished, make a drink that feels like autumn in a mug.
A homemade pumpkin spice latte is a lovely choice, but you don’t need anything complicated.
Easy Pumpkin Spice Latte
Combine:
- 1 shot of espresso or strong coffee
- 150ml warm milk
- 1–2 tbsp pumpkin purée
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- ½ tsp pumpkin spice
- A little vanilla extract
Warm everything together, pour into your favourite mug and top with a little whipped cream and cinnamon if you fancy.
Pair it with Warm & Cosy for the ultimate pumpkin-spice evening.
4. Put on your favourite cosy clothes 🧣
This is the part where the name Sweater Weather really comes to life.
Put on your favourite oversized jumper, fluffy socks or pyjamas and get comfortable.
There doesn’t need to be anything particularly exciting planned. Sometimes the best evenings are the ones where you have nowhere to be.
Make yourself comfortable, make a drink and let the evening unfold slowly.
5. Choose something relaxing to do 📖
Now that the candles are glowing and your drink is ready, choose something that makes you happy.
You could:
- Read a few chapters of your current book
- Watch your favourite autumn film
- Bake something
- Listen to a cosy playlist
- Write in your journal
- Do a little self-care
- Catch up with someone you love
- Simply sit and enjoy a quiet evening
If you’re reading, Sweater Weather makes a lovely companion for a quiet reading night.
If you’re watching a film with a bowl of something sweet, Warm & Cosy creates the perfect atmosphere.
And if you’ve spent the evening baking, Autumn Harvest is the natural choice.
6. Don’t forget the little things 🍂
Creating a cosy home doesn’t have to mean buying lots of new things.
Sometimes it’s the smallest details that make the biggest difference.
Put a blanket over the sofa. Bring a few autumn branches or flowers into the room. Make your favourite drink in a beautiful mug. Put your phone away for an hour. Play music quietly in the background.
It’s about creating a feeling rather than creating a perfect home.
Our perfect autumn evening
If we had to put it all together, our perfect autumn evening would look something like this:
🍎 Dinner: Something warm and comforting
🕯️ Candle: Autumn Harvest while baking
🥧 Dessert: Homemade apple & cinnamon crumble
☕ Drink: Pumpkin spice latte
🧣 Cosy clothes: Your favourite oversized sweater
📖 Evening activity: A good book or favourite film
🎃 Candle: Warm & Cosy for a relaxing evening
🧣 Late evening: Sweater Weather and a quiet chapter before bed
Because autumn doesn’t need to be complicated.
Sometimes, happiness is simply a warm home, something delicious in the oven, candlelight and nowhere else you need to be.
Create your own cosy autumn moment 🕯️
Whether you’re an Autumn Harvest, Warm & Cosy or Sweater Weather kind of person, we hope you find a little time this season to slow down, get comfortable and enjoy the simple things.
Light a candle. Make something delicious. Put on your favourite jumper and enjoy the season.
